Platforms and versions
| Platform | Available since | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | 2025-07-17 (EA) / 2026-10-08 (1.0) | Roughly 15 months of Early Access; full Chinese audio, subtitles and interface |
| PC (Microsoft Store) | 2026-10-08 | Same Microsoft ecosystem as the Xbox version |
| PlayStation 5 | 2026-10-08 | Online play requires PS Plus |
| Xbox Series X|S | 2026-10-08 | Day one on Xbox Game Pass |
| Nintendo Switch | 2026-10-08 | Around 2.1 GB per the official store page; TV, tabletop and handheld modes |
| TapTap (mainland-China Android) | 2026-10-08 (public beta) | Free download with a one-time in-app purchase to unlock; updates track the PC version |
- There is no Xbox One or PS4 version, and no backwards-compatibility information has been published.
- The Microsoft Store and Xbox versions share Microsoft's ecosystem. Whether Xbox Play Anywhere applies is not stated — check the store listing before buying.
- There is no word on a Western mobile release (Google Play / App Store). The mobile version is currently TapTap-only.
- Online co-op supports up to 4 players, and players can split up to clear different rooms on the same map. Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch all list online co-op support.
Mobile (TapTap) specifics
- Model: free download, one in-app purchase to unlock the full game. A buy-to-play title — no gacha, no consumable item shop.
- Content parity: the mobile version updates in step with PC and is on the 1.0 content line.
- Co-op: mobile supports the same 4-player online co-op. Whether it is cross-play with PC depends on what the TapTap listing and the live game actually open up.
- Practical note: check the device compatibility list before paying to unlock, especially on lower-end hardware.
Pricing and editions
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Early Access launch | $19.99 | 10% off in the first week |
| Steam 1.0 | Regional pricing per storefront | 20% off during launch week |
| Deluxe bundle | Bundle pricing | Base game plus additional content |
| Neon Abyss 1+2 bundle | Completion pricing for owners of the first game | Final price follows the store listing |
Veewo's Early Access pricing notice states the price may increase after the full release, so buying earlier locks in a lower price. Console storefront prices differ between regions — always check the live listing.
Timing
If you know you want to play, Early Access and the 1.0 launch week are the two price lows. Once the launch-week discount ends the price returns to full, so don't sit on the fence for too long.
Subscription services
| Service | Included? | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Game Pass (Ultimate / PC) | Day one | Playable with a subscription on Xbox and PC (Microsoft Store) |
| PS Plus | Not included | Required only for online play; solo play does not need it |
| Nintendo Switch Online | Not included | Required only for online play; family groups can share it |
If you have both PC Game Pass and an Xbox, either side will run it. Whether saves move between them within Microsoft's ecosystem is not separately documented.
Languages
The official Nintendo store page lists 13 languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, plus Japanese, Korean, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese. The Steam version lists Simplified Chinese with interface, subtitles and full audio.
Steam features
- Steam Cloud: supported, per the Steam feature list.
- Family Sharing: supported, so household members can share the library.
- Controller: full controller support, plug and play.
About Early Access saves
Veewo has not published detailed rules for how Early Access saves carry into 1.0. If you are still on an EA branch or hit a save problem, back up your save directory first and then follow the Steam update notes.
Crossplay and cross-save
- Crossplay: not announced. Do not assume PC and console players can join each other.
- Cross-save: also unannounced; platform saves are most likely independent.
What is confirmed: all four platforms support up to 4-player online co-op, and for now matchmaking is within a platform unless crossplay is added later.
PC system requirements
| Component | Minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Dual Core 2.4 GHz |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 950 / Radeon R7 360 / Intel HD Graphics 630 |
| DirectX | Version 12 |
| Storage | 2 GB available space |
For a pixel-art game this is very light — mainstream integrated graphics and entry-level discrete cards from the last decade run it fine. The Switch build is around 2.1 GB, so handheld mode is a complete experience. Veewo never filled in the recommended-spec column at all; see System Requirements for what that means in practice.
Which platform should you pick?
- You already subscribe to Game Pass — play it through Game Pass at no extra cost on Xbox or PC, and buy a copy later if you want to keep it.
- PC only, price-conscious — the Steam version is the cheapest route, plus Family Sharing and the Workshop-adjacent ecosystem.
- Living-room play — PS5 or Xbox Series X|S with plug-and-play controllers; Switch if portability matters more, at only ~2.1 GB.
- Mobile only — download the TapTap version free, then pay to unlock if it clicks.
- Playing with friends — confirm you are all on the same platform first. Crossplay is not announced.
What comes after 1.0
1.0 folded the Early Access updates (Fatal Carnival, Glimmer Heist and the rest) into the base game and added the final boss Theia, goddess of vanity, in a three-phase fight, plus Steam achievements and new modes. For Early Access owners it is a free major update — patch over the existing install.
Veewo has not published a detailed post-1.0 roadmap. Judging by the original game's cadence, expect more weapons, Agents and modes; specifics are unannounced. The official Discord (discord.gg/veewo) and the @NeonAbyssGame / @veewogames accounts are the first place patches and roadmap news appear.
