What This Page Is For
The Database is the pure lookup section of this site. You picked up an item you've never seen, you're stuck on a boss, an Agent won't unlock, or an achievement refuses to pop — start here, find the scenario that matches yours, and follow the cross-references to the right table.
Every table in this section follows the same rules:
- English-first names: items, Agents, bosses, and achievements are listed under their official English names, matching the Steam achievement list and English-language guides.
- Organized by system: every entry is tagged with the system it belongs to (item / Agent / boss / achievement), one-to-one with the system pages in Systems.
- Numbers, not adjectives: wherever a value can be written as a number it is — "+2 damage per floor" instead of "notably boosts damage."
What Each of the Four Tables Covers
| Page | Table contents | When to look it up |
|---|---|---|
| Item Quick-Reference | Item name, effect, faction tag (Faith), stackability, Vaporize refund, synergies with Faiths and Hatchmons | Deciding what to buy in the shop, what to pick up off the floor, or which of two items to take |
| Agent Unlock Guide | Each Agent's starting hearts, starting resources, unlock condition, signature starting weapon, Agent item, recommended Faith | Wanting to switch characters, understanding an Agent's kit, checking how far along an unlock task you are |
| Bosses & Deities | Boss roster, floor structure, unlock order, the 1.0 final boss Thea, general strategies | Stuck on a boss, planning which fight comes next, checking DLC bosses |
| Steam Achievements | All 32 achievements with unlock conditions, related system, and global completion rate | Going for completion, checking whether an achievement has a hidden catch |
How the Four Tables Chain Together
The item table is the entry table of the database; the other three are its expansion tables. A typical lookup flows like this:
- Mid-run: you find or roll an unfamiliar item → open the Item Quick-Reference and confirm its effect, its tag, and whether it synergizes with items, Faiths, or Hatchmons you already have.
- Picking a build: an item's faction tag points at a Faith (Consumerism, Agapeism, Artisanism, and so on) → jump to the Agent Unlock Guide to see whose starting kit best matches that faction.
- Preparing for the fight: once the build is set → open Bosses & Deities to confirm which boss waits on which floor and plan which defensive items to prioritize this run.
- Wrapping up: the run ends but an achievement didn't pop → cross-check the Steam Achievements list for unlock conditions and rule out invisible gates like unmet prerequisites.
In one sentence: the item table answers "do I take it," the Agent table answers "who takes it," the boss table answers "who am I fighting," and the achievement table answers "is this run worth playing this way."
The four tables cross-reference each other heavily: item synergies link to Agent and Hatchmon pages, boss strategy sections link back to the defensive-item list in the item table, and the achievement table's "system" column links back to the relevant mechanic pages. Following the links beats scrolling a single mega-page.
Scenario Quick-Lookup
| Situation | Look up first | Then look up | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|---|
| The shop rolled two items and you can only afford one | Item Quick-Reference | Agent table (your current Agent) | Cover your Agent's weakness first; stacking an existing tag synergy second |
| You can't parse an item's in-game English description | Item Quick-Reference | — | The table is sorted by official English name — search the name directly |
| An item mentions a Hatchmon interaction | Item Quick-Reference | Hatchmon pages | Check whether it needs to be carried or procs once and stays active |
| You want to Vaporize a duplicate item | Item Quick-Reference | Vaporize column of the same table | Confirm the refund type (coins / materials / special currency) before deciding |
| An Agent's unlock task won't progress | Agent table | Achievement table | Most tasks accumulate across runs — compare with achievement progress to see what's missing |
| You don't know who you fight next floor | Boss table | Item Quick-Reference | Pick defensive items that counter that boss's damage type |
| A returning DLC boss in Archenemy Returns keeps killing you | Boss table | Agent table | The boss table has a separate section flagging mechanical differences from the original Neon Abyss versions |
| The "beat the game in one run" achievement won't pop | Achievement table | Agent table | Confirm prerequisite Agents and deities are already unlocked |
How to Read the Item Quick-Reference Fields
Every row in the item table carries the same fixed fields. Once you've read a few dozen rows, you can judge an item in five seconds:
- Effect: one sentence with the exact numbers and trigger condition — no "decent" or "significant."
- Faction tag: the Faith the item belongs to (Consumerism, Agapeism, Artisanism, and the rest). Items sharing a tag usually reinforce each other, and completing a set of three or more typically beats a pile of unconnected pieces.
- Stack rule: marked as stackable, non-stackable, or "highest value wins." Taking a second copy of a non-stackable item is wasted money — the single most common deciding factor in a shop dilemma.
- Vaporize refund: weapons and redundant items can be Vaporized to recover resources. The table lists the refund type (coins / materials / special currency) so you can decide between "sell it for cash" and "keep it on my back."
- Synergy target: flags items that interact with a Faith, a Hatchmon, or a specific Agent. Synergies come in two flavors — "must be carried to work" and "procs once, permanent" — read which one before committing.
Shop Dilemma Decision Order
- Compare stack rules first: if it's non-stackable and you already own the same effect, eliminate it immediately.
- Then compare faction tags: whichever completes or strengthens your current tag set wins.
- Then compare synergies: anything tied to your current Agent, Faith, or Hatchmon takes priority.
- If both are mediocre, take the one with the better Vaporize refund — at least you recover something if it doesn't work out.
Usage Tips
- Agents are not classes: any Agent can run any faction. The starting weapon and Agent item just point you toward a smoother opening — no character is locked into one item type.
- Unlock conditions are almost always cumulative: the vast majority of Agent tasks add up across runs, so play normally and only come back to the table when something stalls.
- The boss list has two tiers: names that appear in official announcements and the achievement list go in the main table; original Neon Abyss bosses returning in the Archenemy Returns DLC get a separate section with their mechanical differences from the first game flagged.
- The item table tracks the current version: patches adjust item numbers and tags, and the quick-reference follows the latest build. Original Neon Abyss data differs substantially from the sequel — don't port first-game wiki numbers into Neon Abyss 2.
Achievement hunters, read this first
The Steam Achievements table flags the achievements with extremely low completion rates and the ones that are easy to miss (long-term accumulation types, for instance). Before attempting a run-dependent achievement like a one-run clear, confirm its prerequisites are already done so you don't waste a run.
