How to Read This Roadmap
Neon Abyss 2 shipped in three stages: the reveal, fourteen months of Steam Early Access iteration, and a simultaneous 1.0 launch across PC and consoles. Early Access opened on July 17, 2025; version 1.0 launched on October 8, 2026, day-and-date on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with a separate free-to-download mobile release on TapTap.
Veewo's stated roadmap commitment is short and concrete: keep fixing bugs, keep polishing the experience, and keep adding new weapons, new items, new bosses, new rooms, and new Faiths. In the 1.0 launch announcement the team went further — "version 1.0 is just another beginning" — and committed to setting post-launch priorities based on player feedback.
This page sorts everything into two buckets so you can tell a promise from a rumor:
- Confirmed: backed by an official announcement, a store page, or a shipped patch
- Unconfirmed: directions Veewo has mentioned without a schedule, or long-standing community requests that never got an official answer
If you want to know what a specific version actually shipped, see What's New in 1.0, DLC & Buying Guide, and Early Access Update Log.
Confirmed: What Early Access Actually Delivered
The update cadence
Over 14 months of Early Access, Veewo shipped five named major updates plus one free DLC:
| Update | Release date | Headline content |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Support | 2025-08-18 | First major update after the Early Access launch |
| Rule Changer | 2025-09-19 | Added the Ban system — the single most requested feature — letting you disable elements you don't want to see |
| Archenemy Returns | 2025-10-30 | Free DLC: all 34 bosses from the original Neon Abyss rebuilt, plus 14 returning weapons and 12 combat treasures |
| Fatal Carnival | 2025-11-27 | New Agent Mira, three new bosses (Hermes, Athena, the God of Stand-Up), item sharing, loot distribution improvements |
| Glimmer Heist | 2026-01-29 | New Agent Cassie, Artifacts, six-attribute stat split |
| Weapon Reforge | 2026-03-05 | Full weapon-system overhaul built around Weapon Affixes |
| Wonder Flow | 2026-06-14 | Final major update before 1.0 |
The EA owner perk
Anyone who bought the base game during Early Access could claim the Archenemy Returns DLC for free and keeps it forever. After the 1.0 launch the DLC became a paid add-on; players who already claimed it were not affected.
Hatchmon and Faith kept growing
The roadmap explicitly names "new Faiths," which maps to the Faith system. Throughout Early Access the Faith, Agent, and boss pools all kept expanding, and 1.0 added the original titan-god final boss Theia (see the boss breakdown). The Hatchmon roster — eggs, evolution lines, and Super Hatchmon — gained new additions with nearly every major patch.
Multi-platform launch and the parity promise
At gamescom in August 2026, Veewo confirmed the full platform plan in one shot:
| Item | Official commitment |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Steam, Xbox Series X |
| Xbox Game Pass | The Xbox version launches day one in Game Pass |
| Content parity | All platforms receive content updates in sync, keeping pace with the PC version |
| Mobile model | Free download with a paid unlock — buy-to-play, same content as PC |
Console versions shipped at 1.0 on day one; they never went through Early Access. Every version supports up to 4-player online co-op (see co-op).
The official direction after 1.0
The 1.0 launch message boils down to three points:
- Keep operating: continue bug fixes and polish per the roadmap
- Keep expanding: new weapons, items, bosses, rooms, and Faiths — the same five content categories named since Early Access
- Keep listening: Veewo explicitly said player feedback will drive priorities
For how the current weapon systems actually work — Affixes, Reforge, and the Vaporize action that breaks weapons down into affix materials — see the weapon system.
Confirmed: Content That Was Delayed or Reshuffled
Mid-way through Early Access, Veewo publicly revised the roadmap in February 2026, citing the need to "prioritize what matters most to players." It is the only formal roadmap revision the game has had. The changes:
| Original plan | Revised plan |
|---|---|
| March 2026: Curse system + new boss | March became the Weapon Affix update; the boss slot went to Aphrodite |
| May 2026: new boss + new Agent | Erinyes pushed to May |
| July 2026: new Titaness + more darkness-themed bosses | Unchanged |
The headline item is the Curse system delay. Veewo gave no new release window — only a promise to announce one later. As of the 1.0 launch, the system still has no implementation date: Veewo has acknowledged it exists but has not scheduled it. The Weapon Affix update landed on the revised March date as promised and triggered the larger weapon overhaul shipped that same month.
What the reshuffle actually changed for players
- Players who bought in for the Curse system are still waiting — there is no in-game substitute for it in the meantime
- Weapon Affixes arriving early changed the endgame math: farming shifted from "check the base stats" to "base stats plus affix roll." The keep/salvage rules for weapons are covered in weapons, and unwanted drops get Vaporized into affix materials
- The boss reshuffle barely matters in practice: Aphrodite and Erinyes simply swapped slots, and both shipped before 1.0
Unconfirmed: Long-Standing Community Requests
These requests keep surfacing across Steam discussions, Reddit, and Discord. Veewo has either acknowledged the direction without committing, or never formally responded. Treat them as wishes, not announcements, and don't plan your playtime around them.
| Request | Current status |
|---|---|
| Multiplayer stability | The 1.0 marketing promised "more stable online play" and netcode patches have shipped steadily, but long-term quality is still being proven |
| Balance passes | Veewo commits to ongoing tuning, but which weapons or Faiths (Consumerism, Agapeism, Artisanism) get touched first is never announced in advance |
| Future paid DLC | Beyond Archenemy Returns, no new DLC is announced. The community expects new storylines and boss-pool expansions; nothing is confirmed |
| The Curse system | Acknowledged, delayed, and still without a date |
| Mobile rollout details | "Same content as PC" is promised, but Veewo has not published the mobile release schedule or update cadence |
A practical test for "official" vs. "rumor"
When you see "X is coming next patch," check whether it appears in a Steam news post, a Veewo Games official channel, or a formal showcase (gamescom, PC Gaming Show). If it appears in none of the three, treat it as unconfirmed.
What to Do, Depending on Who You Are
- New player: 1.0 is a complete game. Buy it on whichever platform suits you — use the parity table above, and Game Pass subscribers can start on Xbox at zero extra cost. The FAQ covers common first-run questions
- Early Access veteran: Make sure you claimed Archenemy Returns before it went paid; your save carries into 1.0 with no progress wipe
- Console player: You skipped the entire Early Access churn. The version you bought on day one is 1.0, and content parity with PC is the stated commitment
- On the fence: Do not buy the game for the Curse system or any other unshipped feature. Judge it on what's installed today — the 1.0 content list in What's New in 1.0 is the honest spec sheet
- Returning player: Read the Early Access log first, and pay attention to two updates in particular: Glimmer Heist (Artifacts plus the six-attribute split) and Weapon Reforge (Affixes). These two changed buildcrafting more than everything else combined
Where Roadmap Changes Break First
Roadmap revisions don't always get their own news post. These are the channels worth watching:
| Channel | What you'll get |
|---|---|
| Steam news hub for Neon Abyss 2 | Patch notes, roadmap posts, sale announcements |
| Veewo Games official social accounts | Update teasers, event announcements |
| Official Discord and player communities | Direct dev responses and Q&A |
| gamescom, PC Gaming Show, and similar showcases | Big-version and platform announcements |
The reliable pattern so far
Since Fire Support, every major content beat has been revealed within weeks of shipping — Veewo announces close to release rather than years out. If a feature has a date, you won't wait long; if it doesn't, assume it's genuinely not scheduled.
